Private Pay
We gladly accept payment from a wide variety of sources, but the majority of our clients pay us privately. Our trained, expert staff will assess the needs of your loved ones and craft a customized care plan to ensure your loved one has the right amount of care for their unique needs.
Long Term Care insurance
Long term care insurance helps pay for your care and protect your assets by reimbursing you for covered expenses up to the amounts set forth in your policy. Depending upon which policy you choose, this insurance can reimburse you for a wide variety of home health care services, and can offer you care options that may not be available to you through government programs. For more information about Long Term Care insurance options and considerations for home care, visit the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance.
Federal Veteran Benefits
The United States government provides its Veterans with an Aid and Attendance benefit to aid with payment they if they need assistance performing personal functions needed for everyday living. For more information about these benefits and how to qualify, contact your local Veteran’s Service Organization.
Worker’s Compensation
If you or a loved one is injured on the job, you might need home care services to help you get back on your feet. Inquire with your Human Resources department or Worker’s compensation provider to see if you have coverage for help at home.
Medicaid
Medicaid (referred to as Medi-Cal in California) generally pays for certain health services and nursing home care for those with low incomes and limited resources. Medicaid may also pay for some long term care services at home and in the community. Medicaid has limitations on the amount of assets you can own and the amount of income you may receive each month before you are eligible for benefits. Who is eligible and what services are covered vary from state to state. There are also restrictions on transferring assets to others in order to qualify for Medicaid. Contact your local Homewatch CareGivers to find out if they accept Medicaid as payment for their in-home care services.
Disease Organization Grants
Local disease support and advocacy organizations can sometimes provide grants to families in need of home care assistance. If you or a loved one is suffering from Alzheimer’s, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s, or any other chronic illness, contact the support organization nearest you about grant and assistance opportunities. Your local Homewatch CareGivers can help you get in touch with these organizations.
Medicare
It is a common misconception that Medicare will pay for all the long term care needs of the aging population. In reality, just the opposite is true. Medicare is health insurance coverage provided by the United States government for people over age 65 that covers skilled medical care; it does not customarily cover any sort of “custodial care” or help with daily activities such as bathing, dressing and grooming. Benefits may be available for home health care, but only if certain conditions are met and these situations are rare. Ask your private health insurance if they offer any respite benefits through their Medicare advantage programs, as these programs sometimes pay for a minimal amount of home health care services.
