Loving What You Do at 69

3/20/2012

We all want the best quality care for our parent that is possible. That is why Homewatch CareGivers hired Jo as our Quality Assurance person who oversees our clients and caregivers in the home. She is the eyes and ears of the Homewatch Caregivers team to ensure the best quality of care for the clients and peace of mind for the family.

Family members can have the peace of mind that their parent is receiving the absolute best care. How, you might ask, does that happen? Jo visits the home to not only review the care plan, but to speak directly to the client about their care and observe and provide feedback to the caregiver. The goal is to keep the client safe and happy, while providing the caregiver with the opportunity to enhance their skill set.Jo also keeps the family posted on changes to the care plan because of new information or observations.

Jo has extensive training and education as a former Director of a Retirement home, Supervisor and Personal Wellness Coach at the YMCA. She is available 24/7 to do checks and answer questions from clients and caregivers. What we especially appreciate about Jo is not only her obvious enthusiasm for her job, but that extra mile she takes to be supportive and instructional to the caregivers which enhances self esteem and provides an exemplary model for them to emulate.

Jo believes that it is often the smallest things in life that can be inspirational for an elder such as a beautifully set table at mealtime, or a small vase of flowers to brighten a table or tea time with fine china. By providing small rituals that enhance daily living, caregivers and clients have more of an opportunity to bond which brings happiness and a sense of dignity to the client.

Caregivers are trained to understand that direct contact, stimulation, conversation and patience are the hallmarks of working well and communicating with the elderly client. Jo ensures that, with her guidance and insight, the proper care is given which is paramount to the success of the client-caregiver relationship.

We commend and thank Jo for her dedication to the Homewatch CareGiver team!
