Approximately every 80 seconds in the United States, heart disease kills one woman. But there are preventive measures that can be taken to address a whopping 80% of those cardiac events, according to The American Heart Association.

Wearing red on this day is meant to raise awareness and also encourage others to donate money to help fund cardiovascular research. Learn more about this annual event here.
