The Caregiver Way
We know you might be curious about what it takes to become a caregiver for Homewatch CareGivers of Coeur d'Alene—whether you’re looking for a new job or in need of care for yourself or a loved one. We’ve outlined our process for you here.
Steps to Becoming a Caregiver
Here is what we are looking for in every caregiver:
- Must have a minimum of 1 year of experience providing personal or companion care or be a CNA (Certified Nursing Aide)
- Previous experience with equipment such as wheelchairs, slide boards, overhead lifts, and Hoyer lifts.
As part of the hiring process, we do the following:
- Full state and federal background check are completed by a private investigator
- Drug tests and TB tests
- Reference checks
- Obtain proof of a valid driver’s license and current automobile insurance.
Safety & Learning Matters
We require that all of our caregivers attend an 8+ hour class on our approach to care, etiquette, skills and equipment use. These requirements help both our caregivers and clients remain safe.
What We Offer
Homewatch CareGivers of Coeur d'Alene offers health insurance, paid vacation days and typically can give a caregiver up to 40 hours of work per week reliably.
