Meet an Owner: ‘Great to Be Your Own Boss’

When Dennise Vaughn was ready for a career change, she knew she wasn’t willing to give up some things in her professional world.

“I was used to a really sophisticated infrastructure system,” says the former hospital administrator now owner of the Homewatch CareGivers office in Naperville, IL. “I really knew that I needed finance to be good, marketing to be good, IT to be good, all of the back office support to be really strong and that was the only way I thought I was going to be successful.”

Like love, she knew it when she saw it. “I felt like out of everybody I had talked to, this was one of the most mature infrastructures and that gave me a lot of confidence,” she says.

Not only did she know that she was motivated by a desire to help others, she was aware of the potential in the healthcare business.

“I see the next 20 years for me just constantly evolving and figuring out how to help people as they age,” she says. “We all know over the next 20 years it’s going to be the ‘Silver Tsunami’ that everyone is talking about and I’m glad we’re going to be a part of it.”
