Safety in the Home for Seniors

When the decision is made to age-in-place in the comfort of your or a loved one’s home, safety should be a priority. Seniors are more vulnerable to accidents and injuries in the home due to various reasons. A safe and clutter-free home is even more necessary if you or a loved one is recovering from an injury or surgery or have been recently diagnosed with a chronic illness or condition.

As a part of Homewatch CareGivers of Goodyear’s in-home Discovery Visit, we offer a no-cost home safety evaluation. We know your loved one’s safety is extremely important. It is important to us too.

“Before our in-home care assistance begins and our caregivers start taking care of your loved one, we identify risks in and around the home,” says Maia Bachmeier, President of Homewatch CareGivers of Goodyear. “During the Discovery Visit, we provide a summary of recommended actions that will minimize risks and keep your loved one safe.” Homewatch Caregivers of Goodyear’s goal is to allow your loved one to remain in the home they’ve lived in for years with some safety modifications.

Some risks that we frequently come across are loose or missing handrails around stairs, extension cords stretched across floors, unsafe walking paths outside of the home, low lighting, and loose throw rugs. By addressing these and other issues before our in-home care begins, it will give you peace of mind that your loved one will be safe and in good hands when you are not able to be around. Our experienced in-home care can provide peace of mind, and quality care you can rely on.
