Care Available 24 Hours a Day, 7 Days a Week.
“I wanted to bring my father home, but after two failed attempts to keep him safe and comfortable at home, I was unsure of what to do…. He was under Hospice care and they recommended that I call Homewatch... It is now just about nine months later and I cannot say enough wonderful things about Homewatch... The best testament that I can give to the level of care, love and compassion that he has received, is that hospice has dismissed him!! I don't think I could ask for anything more!!”

A person with dementia needs highly specialized dementia home care. Knowing how to communicate with an individual
living with dementia can mean all the difference in avoiding disrupting
behaviors. Our caregivers in Bethlehem and the Lehigh Valley area receive specialized dementia care training through
our Homewatch CareGivers University. For
example, we train our caregivers to make eye contact, to speak slowly and
clearly, and to keep their body language and facial expressions pleasant and
relaxed when working their dementia clients.
Our caregivers are trained to
handle different behaviors and to communicate in positive terms. We
believe in meeting the client where they are, meaning we don’t constantly
correct them on unimportant details. We encourage our caregivers to validate
clients’ feelings and to divert the client’s attention to something pleasant.
