West Los Angeles Beverly Hills, Santa Monica and South Bay

I'm Dick Williams, owner of Homewatch CareGivers serving the West Side of Los Angeles and the South Bay.  I know there are a lot of choices in home care available to you, so I'd like to tell you more about what we do differently.

We believe that everyone, no matter their age or fragility, is still capable of growing.  We focus on what skills each person still has, and then we build on that foundation.  This approach comes from the Eden Alternative, a non-profit dedicated to creating quality of life for those in need of care, their loved ones, and other care partners.  We train our caregivers to look for the signs of loneliness, helplessness, and boredom, the issues of the human spirit that plague people as they get older.  We coach them on techniques that address these issues of the human spirit, along with the normal physical issues of aging.

All of our caregivers receive special trainnig in working with dementia and Alzheimer's.  My training and experience as a support group facilitator and volunteer speaker for Alzheimer's Greater Los Angeles, along with the tools of the Homewatch CareGivers "Pathways to Memory" program enable us to pass along techniques for communication, for dealing with difficult behaviors, and for keeping people active.  There are no magic bullets when working with dementia, but there are techniques that increase the odds of success.  We also introduce our caregivers to the programs that reduce the risk of Alzheimer's and dementia, such as the MIND diet, regular exercise, stress reduction, meaningful activities, and cognitive training.

We only select caregivers who have demonstrated skills and a commitment to providing the best home health care.  Our caregivers are bonded and insured, and have passed a LiveScan criminal background check.  We do comprehensive skills and personality testing.  We require that each of our caregivers have CPR and First Aid certifications as well as a TB test.

We know that third-party validation also helps you make your choice.  For four straight years, this office received the "Best of Home Care" designation by Home Care Pulse, a national quality monitoring organization focused on in-home care services.  Also, we are licensed by the State of California, Department of Social Services as an Home Care Organization.

Our goal is to enrich and extend the life of our clients who are aging at home.  We also provide services to people who are in senior apartments, independent or assisted living, or in a hospital or skilled nursing facility.

Besides dementia and Alzheimer's care, companion care, personal care, post-surgery care, and chronic illness care, we can also help you with:

  • Assisted Living Placement – Through our affiliate at First Class Placement Service
  • Homewatch University – Online training on issues of aging for family or professionals
  • Presentations on Aging – Contact us to present to your organization on issues of aging
