Care Available 24 Hours a Day, 7 Days a Week.
Rebecca and Tim,
Thank you for helping me with my surgery last Monday. I could not have done it without you. You are providing a great service.

You’ve probably heard the terms home care and home healthcare, but are they the same thing in Sterling, Loudoun and elsewhere? Both look after your family’s health and safety, but what else?
After a stay in the hospital, your doctor may provide a plan of care that orders treatments such as:
Physical therapy services
Occupational therapy services
Speech therapy services
Respiratory therapy services
Medical social services
These services can only be provided by specially licensed Home Healthcare organizations. Often these services are billed by the visit, rather than at an hourly rate. These services can often be covered by private health insurance or Medicare.
There are two main kinds of home care, personal care and companion care.
Personal care is focused on assisting the client with the Activities of Daily Living (ADL’s) such as bathing, dressing, toileting, transferring, and eating. A person's degree of independence in performing these activities is part of determining the appropriate level of care and services. Personal care is not ordered by a doctor, but is needed when the client is unable to complete an activity due to cognitive impairment, functional disability, physical health problems, or safety. In Virginia, personal care services must be delivered based on a written plan of care developed by a registered nurse in collaboration with the client and the client’s family. The state also has specific requirements as to the qualification of caregivers who provide personal care. These services can be covered by Long-Term Care insurance but are usually not covered by health insurance or Medicare.
Companion care means assisting persons unable to care for themselves without assistance. Companion services include transportation, meal preparation, shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, and household management. It does not include assisting clients with things like bathing or dressing.
While a skilled home healthcare professional changes your loved one’s prescriptions, an in-home caregiver helps them remember to take medications day in and day out. A home healthcare agency can change your loved one’s therapy if it’s not working, and an in-home caregiver is there to encourage them to accomplish those therapies. The client or the client’s family must grant permission to the home care and home health care providers to share information about the client’s treatment and condition.
