About Homewatch CareGivers of Ocean Grove
Kathy McBain, owner of Homewatch CareGivers of Ocean Grove, has called the Jersey Shore and Monmouth County her home for over 30 years. She has long been active in this community and looks forward to providing people here with in home care services.
Originally from Pennsylvania, Kathy spent 25 years in the newspaper/media business, and served as Controller of several media companies in New Jersey, including the Asbury Park Press and Greater Media Newspapers.
Volunteering has always been important to Kathy because she likes being able to make a difference for others. Some of the organizations Kathy has been involved include Fulfil (formerly the Food Bank of Monmouth & Ocean), Monmouth Council of Girl Scouts, SPCA, and the Band Parents Association.
Kathy knows firsthand what it is like to care for a loved one and what it takes to provide excellent care; her mother was diagnosed with leukemia in 2013 which took her on a journey of being on hospice 3 times before she passed in May 2017. Everyone in her family took turns providing care. In 2016, while her mother was on hospice the second time, Kathy’s father passed away and finding care for her mother while the family attended the funeral was challenging. It was then Kathy and her family realized the need for in-home care for their mother and the value it would be to the family. They were fortunate to find an agency to help with care for a few hours a week. This lead Kathy on a journey to provide home care since her mother wanted to stay in her home. It was this experience that led to greater awareness about the importance of honoring our loved ones wishes for as long as possible.
After many years of wanting to open her own business, Kathy decided that Homewatch CareGivers was an opportunity to share her experience, provide quality care, and give back to the community.
