Sarasota Venice, Port Charlotte, and Bradenton

At Homewatch CareGivers of Sarasota, Florida, we hire caregivers who simply love to help others. These are people who respect themselves and their clients.  If you have ever thought about engaging with elders in a meaningful way, caregiving could be a perfect job for you. We offer paid time off and other benefits to all of our employees.

Always Caring

Does this sound like you? Meet some of our caregivers.

Robin Dawson has been with Homewatch CareGivers since 2013, but she’s been working as a caregiver for over 20 years.

“It’s the best when you go into a client’s home and they are a bit reluctant saying that they don’t think they need any help,” Robin says. “And then, after you are there for a while, they say they don’t know how they ever did without you, that you’re part of the family. That’s when you know you’re doing a good job.”

Robin is a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) who previously worked in hospitals where she learned about interacting with people who are living with Alzheimer’s, COPD, cancer and other diseases. “I just treat people like I would want them to treat my own family,” she says. “When I go into someone’s home, I respect them and how they like things done. It’s such a good feeling knowing you’re making a difference.”

Doug Connours, has always been a people person, whether he was working as a handyman or in law enforcement. In his 50s, he became a Home Health Aide and discovered caregiving as a flexible job that lets him enjoy the company of others whose stories he cherishes.

“I had a client who was 99 when we first met and I came to find out he wasn’t very happy,” Doug says. “But we hit it off and I treated him like the person he is, with respect and kindness, and got to see him laugh and smile.”

The men bonded over an interest in hunting, and Doug brought him some trophy antlers one time that his client proudly referred to while telling stories about his past.

Making Connections

The hiring and orientation process we have in place helps us get to know our caregivers better so that when we send them out to a client, we are also making a match based on personal preferences of each.
