In 2011, we established Homewatch CareGivers here in CT, serving Hartford and Tolland counties. At the time, my motivation for entering the home care industry was tied to the recent illness and eventual passing of my father. After that my mother developed cancer, and in a relatively short period of time, moved into hospice. During those years, my sister and I worked hard to care for our parents, who had sacrificed so much for us. It was a labor of love, and a privilege to do this, in any way that they needed. But at the same time, we were raising families, and both held responsible positions in business as well. As we tried to navigate the options available to us, while dealing with tremendous challenges at times—it was difficult.
After 5 years in this business, and providing care for hundreds of families, I have been rewarded with the thanks and gratification that we make a difference, every day! Whether it’s in providing short-term help, assistance after surgery, long-term care, or just a few hours to give the family time to cope, there’s a feeling that the care team at Homewatch CareGivers of West Hartford has enriched the lives of our clients, in meaningful ways. I’ve talked to so many daughters and sons, husbands and wives, nieces and nephews that are concerned that they won’t be able to be there for their loved one. I like to think that as we partner together in caring for family, some of the stress and concern can fade away. And so many clients and families have told us that help came just at the right time, and in just the right ways.
