About Homewatch CareGivers of Northwest Houston

Welcome to Homewatch CareGivers of Northwest Houston, where compassion meets excellence in home care. Our journey began in 2021, fueled by the vision of two passionate business owners: Sharan Sihota in Cypress and John Engels in The Woodlands. United by a shared commitment to providing exceptional in-home care, they each established their businesses with the goal of making a difference in the lives of their clients.

Over the years, Sharan and John exchanged innovative ideas and nurtured a desire to merge their efforts. Today, that dream has become a reality, allowing us to serve clients across Northwest Houston, from Cypress to The Woodlands and beyond.

Sharan Sihota Owner

Sharan Sihota born in India, raised in Canada, and has called Texas home for over two decades. She is a compassionate leader with an entrepreneurial spirit, deeply dedicated to her family and community. Sharan’s caregiving journey began when she became the primary caregiver for her elderly parents, which sparked her passion for helping others. Guided by her values of authenticity, integrity, and support, she founded Homewatch CareGivers of Cypress, which has since grown into Homewatch CareGivers of Northwest Houston through a merger with John Engels from the Woodlands office. Outside of work, Sharan enjoys spending time with her family and friends, cooking and taking long walks. As a devoted wife and mother of three, she brings a strong sense of empathy and compassion to her work, ensuring that every client feels valued and cared for.

John Engels Owner

John Engels launched his professional journey as an oilfield engineer in 1995, following in the footsteps of his father, who also worked in the oil industry. Growing up, John lived in various countries, embracing the family tradition of international work. Over the years, he married a wonderful woman, and together they raised two children in The Woodlands, who are now in college. During their time there, John supported his parents when they chose to leave their retirement in Florida to be closer to family. This period became a meaningful experience for the Engels family, strengthening bonds between children, parents, and grandparents. It also opened John's eyes to the importance of caring for the elderly in their daily lives. Inspired by this realization, he founded a home care agency to assist those needing help at home. Starting in The Woodlands, the agency expanded through a merger with Sharan Sihota in Cypress, Texas, and is now known as Homewatch CareGivers of Northwest Houston.

Mary Pohlman, a Texas native, has been with Homewatch CareGivers of Northwest Houston since 2023. She brings over 3 years of experience in private care services and previously worked for 15 years as a Documentation Specialist. In her current role, Mary has the privilege of working closely with home-based caregivers, gaining insight into their needs, and ensuring that clients receive the best possible support. She is known for her personal connection with caregivers, helping to match their unique strengths and personalities with the clients they serve. Mary is passionate about operational excellence and is committed to driving a culture of continuous improvement within her organization. She actively leverages her expertise in process optimization and team leadership to contribute to the ongoing success of Homewatch CareGivers of Northwest. Outside of work, Mary enjoys spending time with her two adult children and her husband. Together, they love embarking on new adventures and exploring the world through travel.

She originally started her healthcare career by working in the rehab department of a local skilled nursing facility and developed a passion for helping others. She graduated with a BS in Clinical Exercise Physiology and a minor in Business from Mississippi State University. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, and staying active.

Lauren Williford was born in Houston, raised in Magnolia, and is proud to call Houston home once again. She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Houston and now serves as the Business Development Manager at Homewatch CareGivers, where she blends her passion for marketing with a deep commitment to the caregiving community. Lauren’s journey in caregiving began early in college, working closely with senior communities. Her experience inspired her dedication to supporting families and enhancing quality of life for those in need. At Homewatch CareGivers, she focuses on creating meaningful connections and helping families find trusted, compassionate care. Outside of work, Lauren enjoys spending time with her family, cheering on Houston sports teams, and taking walks with her dog, Murphy. She loves her community and is driven to make a lasting, positive impact.
