Fifteen years ago, Art Sanchez and Melinda Yeary entered the home care industry after experiencing firsthand the many challenges of family caregiving. Their personal journey with care eventually led them to acquire their first Homewatch CareGivers agency location in Arvada, Colorado—a milestone they celebrated on March 3rd.
Since then, the couple has grown their home care agency across Colorado and now own and operate four award-winning locations in Arvada, Boulder, Longmont, and Fort Collins, with the main office headquartered in Longmont. Alongside a team of experienced caregivers and care managers, they have spent the past 15 years providing compassionate, reliable in-home care to seniors, veterans, and families throughout Jefferson County, Boulder County, and Northern Colorado.
A family tradition of care
Art comes from a family of caregivers. His mother spent her career as a CNA before moving into medical billing, making senior home care a natural path for him.
The need for professional in-home care first hit home in the 1990s, when Art’s father required support, and again in 2010, when Melinda’s mother was battling cancer. After Melinda suffered a fall while helping her mom to the restroom, the couple realized just how complicated caregiving could be.
“This was the moment we realized we needed help, and that there had to be something better than hospice,” Art said. “That is when we discovered Homewatch CareGivers. Our purpose shifted from being business professionals to owner/operators of a home care company.”
In 2011, they opened the Arvada office. Five years later, Melinda's father, Joe “José” Yeary, began struggling to live safely at home. A Korean War veteran, he had always been fiercely independent and initially resisted receiving care. But when caregiver Patti entered Joe’s life, everything changed.
“A normal day would consist of me coming home from work to find Joe and Patti outside on the patio singing along to Hank Williams or sitting down to a plate of piping-hot homemade enchiladas,” Art recalled. “His outlook changed 180 degrees, and home care made all the difference.”
For Art, an Air Force veteran, Joe’s journey to accepting care carried deeper meaning. He was proud that he and Melinda could provide Joe with a caregiver who supported him with the same dignity and selflessness he once showed in service to his country.
Our commitment today
Art and Melinda’s personal experiences continue to shape the agency’s mission: to deliver exceptional home care in Arvada, Boulder, and surrounding communities that is thoughtful, dependable, and tailored to each family’s needs.
This commitment influences every part of their operation, from how clients are supported to how caregivers are recruited, trained, and retained.
With this strong foundation, the agency has grown steadily while maintaining a consistent standard of quality care. Art and Melinda assumed leadership of the Boulder office in 2020, which has operated continuously since 1994. In 2021, they acquired the North office serving Weld and Larimer counties, which has provided in-home care services for more than two decades.
“We feel so fortunate to help other families,” Art said. “Melinda and I have a special place in our hearts for seniors, and we also find it deeply rewarding to serve our veteran community. We consider helping families care for their loved ones to be our sacred duty.”
Art credits the agency’s longevity to its people. Over the past two years, the team has earned recognition as a Denver Post Top Workplace and has received the Home Care Provider of Choice award for three consecutive years.
“With the right team and the right approach, anything is possible,” Art said. “Early on, we realized one of our differentiators was doing what others would not. If a client needed care, we made sure to provide exceptional caregivers—even if Melinda and I filled shifts ourselves. That expectation still guides our care managers today.”
Recent initiatives include combining agency licenses, establishing a care manager structure to better support caregivers in the field, enhancing caregiver training, expanding digital and AI-driven outreach, offering caregivers a 401(k) benefit, and modernizing office technology—all designed to improve service for clients and employees alike.
