The Caregiver Way

The hiring of our caregivers is one of the most important processes we undertake at Homewatch CareGivers in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. From the time we receive an application, we follow steps to ensure it’s going to be a good fit for the caregiver and our clients. “I feel like it is important for me to know everyone who works for me,” says owner Anzor Gachechiladze, explaining why he participates in the hiring of caregivers. “In this way, I know who will be a good fit with our clients.”

Steps to Becoming a Caregiver

Each caregiver and client is unique and is treated as such. That said, we do have to follow the same process for every person we hire to work with us. Here is what you can expect:

  • State and federal background checks
  • Criminal background checks
  • Motor vehicle record checks
  • Personal and professional reference checks
  • Pre-employment and random drug testing
  • TB tests, as required by the state of North Carolina
  • Efficiency in CNA (Certified Nursing Aide) skills such as bathing, dressing, personal hygiene, meal prep

We always look for smiles and a can do attitude in our caregivers!

Safety & Learning Matters

Once you have been hired by us, the orientation and training begin:

  • HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) course
  • Bloodborne pathogen training
  • Documentation training
  • Aptitude test
