Gauri and Rohit Chande are the owners of Homewatch CareGivers of Silver Spring. They serve families across Silver Spring and nearby communities within Eastern Montgomery County.
They are also parents to two daughters and understand how important dependable support can be when a family is balancing work, children, household responsibilities, and the needs of an aging or medically vulnerable loved one.
Their decision to operate a home care agency was shaped by both professional experience and personal caregiving responsibilities.
Co-Owner, Homewatch CareGivers of Silver Spring
Before becoming a home care agency owner, Gauri worked as a pharmacist and pharmaceutical researcher.
Her work included direct interaction with patients through counseling and education. That experience helped her recognize that a person’s well-being is influenced by more than a diagnosis or medical treatment.
Adequate support at home, social engagement, meaningful activities, familiar routines, and reliable assistance can all affect how someone experiences daily life.
Gauri’s approach to home care is grounded in listening carefully to clients and families. She believes that support should reflect the individual’s abilities, preferences, personality, routines, and goals rather than relying on a single plan for every client.
Her role within the Silver Spring agency includes helping families understand their options and supporting the development of personalized care arrangements.
Co-Owner, Homewatch CareGivers of Silver Spring
Rohit brings more than 20 years of executive-management experience to the local agency.
His professional background has given him experience with leadership, operations, communication, accountability, and building organizations around clear service standards.
Rohit and Gauri had long discussed building a business together that would provide a meaningful service to their community. Their personal caregiving experiences ultimately gave that goal a clear direction.
Rohit’s role helps support the operational side of the agency, including the systems and communication needed to coordinate dependable care for clients and families.
For much of their adult lives, Gauri and Rohit lived thousands of miles away from family members and loved ones.
They understand the worry that can come with trying to help an aging relative from a distance. Families may receive incomplete information, struggle to coordinate appointments, or feel uncertain about what is happening between visits and phone calls.
In recent years, Gauri and Rohit also became primary caregivers for immediate family members with complex care needs.
That experience gave them a first-hand understanding of:
They saw how strongly many people wish to remain in their own homes while maintaining dignity, choice, and as much independence as possible.
They also learned that families cannot always manage every responsibility alone.
Homewatch CareGivers of Silver Spring was created to help local families build a more dependable care arrangement around the needs of the person receiving support.
Home care should not begin with a predetermined list of tasks. It should begin with an understanding of the person.
Before care begins, our team learns about the client’s routines, abilities, preferences, household needs, family involvement, schedule, and current concerns.
We begin by discussing what is happening now. Families may be concerned about falls, missed meals, memory changes, personal care, isolation, recovery after hospitalization, nighttime needs, or the increasing demands placed on a family caregiver.
You do not need to have every answer before contacting us. The first conversation can help identify the questions that need to be addressed.
The person receiving care should remain central to the process. Our team seeks to understand:
The care plan outlines the type of non-medical assistance requested and how it should fit into the client’s daily life. Depending on the situation, the plan may include personal care, companionship, meals, mobility assistance, transportation, household routines, medication reminders, supervision, or respite for family members.
Caregiver matching may consider:
No agency can guarantee a perfect match, but thoughtful planning can help create a more comfortable and productive care relationship.
Needs may change after care begins. Families are encouraged to communicate changes in routines, mobility, behavior, schedules, health concerns, or household circumstances so the care arrangement can be reviewed.
Homewatch CareGivers of Silver Spring provides personalized support based on each client’s circumstances.
Caregivers may assist with bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, incontinence care, oral hygiene, mobility, and other personal routines included in the care plan.
Companion care may include conversation, shared activities, meal preparation, errands, transportation, light housekeeping, and assistance maintaining familiar routines.
Caregivers can support individuals living with dementia through consistent routines, calm cueing, personal care, meals, companionship, mobility assistance, and supervision included in the care plan.
Respite care provides temporary or recurring assistance so family caregivers can rest, work, attend appointments, travel, or manage other responsibilities.
Caregivers may assist people living with long-term conditions through personal care, meals, medication reminders, mobility support, transportation, companionship, and household routines.

Inviting a caregiver into someone’s home is a personal decision. Families need to feel comfortable asking questions, discussing concerns, and understanding how care will be coordinated.
Our approach emphasizes:
We do not believe that quality home care is measured only by the number of tasks completed.
It is also reflected in whether the person feels heard, whether the family understands the plan, and whether the support fits naturally into the client’s life.
Caregivers are an essential part of every care relationship. Our local team works to identify caregivers whose availability, experience, communication style, and abilities are appropriate for the requested care plan.
Caregivers may assist clients with:
Caregivers should work within the established care plan and the scope of services authorized by the local agency.
Families should communicate any specialized equipment, significant mobility needs, behavioral concerns, medical restrictions, or professional instructions during the consultation process.

Gauri and Rohit understand the challenges of supporting a loved one while living far away.
Long-distance family members may worry about:
A professional caregiver can provide practical assistance and an additional point of contact within an established care plan.
Home care does not replace family involvement, medical care, or legal decision-making. It can, however, help families create a more consistent local support system.
