Mom: The Original Caregiver

Before there were caregivers there were moms. As families and even societies continue to evolve, so too do the roles of who takes care of the needs of loved ones.

When you think of what a non-medical in-home caregiver does, it sounds a lot like what a mom might do:

  • Assist with bathing, grooming, and dressing
  • Light housework daily
  • Meal planning, preparation and even clean-up
  • Medication reminders
  • Planning and executing outings based on the unique interests of those she cares about
  • Playing games together
  • Bringing meaning and joy to the days of those in her care

These days mom may certainly still do all of these things, but can get help from a professionally-trained caregiver when there’s just too much going on, or a different type of expertise is needed. Still, there’s much to be grateful for when it comes to all that moms do.
