We sat down with Julie to ask her a few questions that might be of interest to you as you consider the Homewatch CareGivers franchise opportunity.

Who makes a good Homewatch CareGivers franchisee?

A good Homewatch CareGivers franchisee candidate knows that our opportunity allows them to do good while doing well, meaning they can make a contribution in their community while making a solid living for themselves. We look for entrepreneurially natured people who want to make an impact and have passion for care and helping others. It’s also beneficial to either have a background in sales and marketing or know how to hire people who have that skill.

How is Homewatch CareGivers different from other senior care franchises?

Our approach to care is very distinct – we recognize that there are three concerns that consistently plague seniors the most: loneliness, helplessness and boredom. Most caregivers and caregiving companies approach senior care transactionally: Mom needs a shower, the caregiver is available at 10 a.m. so Mom gets a shower at 10 a.m. They don’t take into consideration the fact that Mom may prefer to shower at night, and to shower during the day would throw off her whole routine and impact her mental health. We believe that mental health impacts physical health, so we take care of the loneliness, helplessness and boredom alongside the actual, physical needs.

In addition to our care approach, we also have thorough business metrics that are available to our franchisees, which allow them to measure every component of their business. Our client acquisition model is also unique to Homewatch Caregivers and it sets us apart.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

I love the mission of our organization – to provide compassion and care for all people who need home health care services. I’m lucky in that we get to have a triple impact – we get to take care of people in society who are vulnerable, we help people create and grow their own businesses, and we work with an amazing team that we also get to help grow and develop.
