Wendy Raney, owner and CEO of Homewatch CareGivers in Plano, Lewisville, and greater north Dallas, Texas, brings both a suitable professional background and a personal passion to her business.

In addition to 25+ years in corporate sales and customer service, which she describes as “a really good background” for in home senior care services, Ms. Raney had long been a hospice volunteer.

“On my nights and weekends, I was a hospice caregiver,” she says. “I have to say that was one of the most enjoyable, fulfilling things that I ever did.”

When Ms. Raney decided to leave her 9 to 5, she was in search of something truly meaningful. A close connection to her grandmother, along with her hospice experience, led her to the home care industry. Along the way she learned that people—much like her own parents and her sweet grandmother—only needed a couple of hours of care regularly in order to maintain their independence and dignity.

“It is a lot of success and a lot of enjoyment and that outweighs the work,” she says.

Hear Ms. Raney share her own story in the video below.
