Lisa was first drawn to working as a caregiver because of her love for the senior population and has enjoyed the opportunities it affords to learn from people with greater life experience. Lisa’s work not only provides a service for her clients but an opportunity for both their lives to be enriched in the process. Lisa’s favorite thing to do with her clients is to just chat and spend time with them as she accomplishes her tasks. These conversations are often mundane, but they create a special relationship where she is able to restore a sense of normalcy back to her clients. It can be all-too-easy for caregivers to simply do their tasks and leave, but Lisa’s listening posture and personal care allows her to create lasting relationships with her clients, and makes her well-loved by all. This person directed approach to care is something Lisa does particularly well and is something that sets the caregivers of Homewatch CareGivers of Crystal Lake apart. Marta Haliotis Caregiver (CG)

As a caregiver, Marta Haliotis’ work is at the heart and soul of what makes Homewatch CareGivers of Crystal Lake (HWCG) who we are because her work directly with clients has the power to define the experience of her clients. In search of work that could enrich her soul and give her meaning, Marta discovered caregiving after years in retail work. Now she feels as if her work is making a difference in the world. One of Marta’s clients “Patrick” experienced some difficulty finding a good caregiver match for a long time, but because of Marta’s heart for Patrick and persistence to treat him well, Patrick was able to let his guard down and trust her, which is not a small thing for Patrick. This example of human-centered care is what elevates Marta’s care from being merely transactional into a care that transforms lives, or at least was able to change Patrick’s life for the better. When Marta is not at work, she enjoys canoeing, hiking, and riding bikes with her husband and three children. When in the outdoors she also enjoys taking an easel and some paints with her to try and capture the beauty of the landscapes.

Sandy has worked as a caregiver for Homewatch CareGivers (HWCG) of Crystal Lake since 2018, and prior to working at HWCG was a caregiver for about 7 years. When she is not at work Sandy enjoys singing at her local church with her husband Greg. Sandy is also working on writing a Christian novel which she hopes will spark imagination and give her readers insight into their faith.
