Homewatch CareGivers Franchisee Shares Expertise on the On-Demand Economy

Dennise Vaughn recently presented as an expert panelist and discussed her thoughts on the senior population and on-demand services

Dennise Vaughn, owner of Homewatch CareGivers in Naperville, recently shared her expertise during an insightful panel discussion entitled “The On-Demand Economy” at the Northern Illinois Franchise Association’s (NIFA) 2018 November Luncheon.

Key issues and trends related to restaurants, franchising and third parties were a key focus for the panelists, including the need for technology, innovation and ensuring an effective customer experience. Considered an industry professional with diverse connections to the on-demand economy, Dennise believes that senior care is the ultimate on-demand service – as senior clients age, the expectations will change as well.

She reminded the attendees that the caregivers of Homewatch CareGivers help seniors access on-demand services such as grocery delivery, which has become very popular for seniors.

Healthcare is also becoming more on-demand, which impacts seniors in several ways. For example, although it has been routine for years to schedule an appointment with a doctor in advance, more and more urgent care and minute clinic facilities are popping up to provide immediate access to healthcare.

Not all on-demand services are easy for seniors to adopt, however, such as on-demand ride services. The demand for transportation services is definitely present with strong growth potential, but many seniors don’t feel comfortable ordering on-demand ride services such as Uber and Lyft.

Newer technology is actually helping seniors leverage on-demand services. In fact, many seniors feel more comfortable ordering such services via an Amazon Echo or other virtual assistant compared to a mobile phone app.

Right now, the senior population is spending a lot of money, and therefore holds very strong purchasing power. Dennise believes that In the future, on-demand services will continue to grow as an industry for seniors, as third-party delivery services figure out ways to deliver prescriptions, healthcare treatments at home and other services beneficial to seniors.
