The Walk to End Alzheimer’s: Join Our Walk Team

You may already be aware of an event, “The Walk to End Alzheimer’s” sponsored by the Alzheimer’s Association happening on October 4 in Crystal Lake and October 3 in Vernon Hills. If you have participated in this event in the past, you will notice that, like many other things in 2020, this year the event will look a little different. This year the walk will not be happening in a specific central location, but instead will consist of smaller groups of families and friends who will don their Walk to End Alzheimer’s shirts on their given day and walking in their own neighborhoods and areas. In addition to the walk itself there will also be some online events available on walk day including an Opening and Promise Garden Ceremony. The Promise Garden takes place every year and is a visual representation of the different reasons people walk.

Blue: Someone with Alzheimer's disease or another form of dementia.

Purple: An individual who has lost a loved one to the disease.

Yellow: A person who is currently supporting or caring for someone living with Alzheimer’s disease.

Orange: A participant who supports the cause and the Association's vision of a world without Alzheimer’s disease.

Normally, each participant would be given a flower to plant in the garden, but this year the online event will serve as a reminder of the many reasons we are walking with the goal to end Alzheimer’s disease. This is a deeply moving event and is worth your time to attend. All online events can be accessed by going to act.alz.org.

If you are interested in participating in the walk this year, Homewatch CareGivers of Crystal Lake is sponsoring a team and we are planning on walking on October 4th all around Crystal Lake. We would be delighted if you would join us by becoming part of our walk team by clicking here and donating to this worthy cause. Though we won’t be able to walk together physically, if you join our walk team and donate, your donations will enable the development of research and treatments of Alzheimer’s disease. Every bit counts and will have a direct impact on the lives of millions of people every day. We at Homewatch CareGivers of Crystal Lake stand with everyone whose lives are impacted by this disease and work hard to bring high quality care to all our clients. Through this event, you have an opportunity to stand with us, as we all work together to make a positive difference.
