On Saturday, July 12, 2025, something truly special happened at the Person Senior Wing in Santa Rosa. The 24th Annual Senior Expo brought together seniors, families, caregivers, and dozens of local organizations for a vibrant morning of connection, wellness, and community. Homewatch CareGivers of Santa Rosa was proud to be a sponsor and active participant in this meaningful event.
As advocates for aging with dignity and independence, we were honored to support a gathering that celebrates the strength and spirit of our older adult community.
A Welcoming Gathering for All Generations
This year’s Senior Expo, hosted by Santa Rosa Recreation and Parks, took place from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the newly renovated Person Senior Wing at 2060 W. College Avenue. The event was free and open to everyone, not just seniors, but also Baby Boomers, adult children, caregivers, and friends seeking guidance and inspiration around aging well.
The atmosphere was alive with music, laughter, and genuine connection. Attendees were greeted by over 60 booths filled with educational resources, community programs, and services specifically designed to support seniors in every aspect of life.
Exploring the Best of Senior Living in Santa Rosa
One of the most impressive parts of the Senior Expo was its range of offerings. The event truly showcased the “best of senior living” in Santa Rosa.
Visitors could:
- Discover local travel opportunities and group excursions tailored to older adults
- Learn about benefits and financial assistance programs, including insurance, Medicare, and Social Security resources
- Get moving with fitness and recreation program info, from walking clubs to dance classes
- Receive free health screenings, including blood pressure, glucose, and hearing tests
- Explore the newly upgraded Person Senior Wing, a beautiful hub for senior engagement in the city
There were also presentations, raffles, interactive demos, and plenty of chances to meet one-on-one with local service providers.
Why This Event Matters to Homewatch CareGivers
At Homewatch CareGivers of Santa Rosa, we believe that the health and happiness of our older population is something to be celebrated, not just supported. That’s why sponsoring the 2025 Senior Expo was more than a marketing opportunity; it was a reflection of our mission.
Our goal is to help people age with dignity, stay safe in their homes, and feel connected to the communities they love. Events like this one align perfectly with that purpose.
Many seniors face difficult questions:
- “What happens if I can’t drive anymore?”
- “How do I remain active and engaged while living alone?”
- “Who will help me if my health changes?”
The Senior Expo creates a space where those questions can be addressed with compassion, expertise, and real options. That’s exactly what we offer at Homewatch CareGivers, and it’s why we showed up ready to support and listen.
Our Booth: A Place to Learn, Connect, and Feel Heard
Throughout the event, our team welcomed dozens of visitors to our booth. Some stopped by simply to say hello and grab a brochure. Others stayed longer to ask detailed questions about in-home care, respite services, or support for aging parents.
We provided:
- Information on companionship care, personal care, and dementia support
- Guidance on navigating long-term care needs for loved ones
- Tips for family caregivers coping with burnout
- Conversations about how to build a custom care plan based on individual needs
For many attendees, it was their first time learning that quality in-home care can be flexible, affordable, and deeply personal. Our caregivers aren’t just workers—they’re companions, problem-solvers, and advocates.
Making Connections That Go Beyond the Event
One of the most powerful outcomes of the Senior Expo was the connections made—not just between organizations and attendees, but between people who truly care.
We met adult children concerned about their parents’ safety at home. We met veterans seeking support. We spoke with active seniors interested in volunteering or mentoring others in their community. And we also connected with fellow exhibitors—businesses and nonprofits equally dedicated to improving the lives of older adults.
That’s the beauty of community events like this: they remind us that no one has to face aging or caregiving alone.
A Shout-Out to the City of Santa Rosa
We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to Santa Rosa Recreation and Parks for organizing and hosting the Senior Expo. Their team put together a thoughtful, inclusive, and impactful event that will leave a lasting impression on our community.
The unveiling of the updated Person Senior Wing added another layer of excitement and possibility. This space will continue to serve as a vital hub for senior programs, fitness classes, educational workshops, and social events in the years to come.
