The Ventura Chamber of Commerce joined community members on September 3 to welcome Homewatch CareGivers of Ventura with an official ribbon cutting. The event was filled with warmth, gratitude, and a strong sense of purpose as owner Brooks Marshall and Managing Director Maryl Davis shared their vision for the future of caregiving in Ventura County.
Marshall, who has spent two decades in healthcare leadership across the nation, spoke of his decision to bring that experience back home. “I thought in my next iteration, do I explore another executive role or try and build something meaningful in our community here,” he said. Looking at the crowd gathered, he affirmed that Ventura was exactly the place to do so.
Davis, who grew up in a healthcare family in Ojai and cared for both of her parents during their final years, explained how personal the mission is. “This role feels like a natural extension of my father’s legacy. It allows me to give back to the community and ensure families have access to the quality care they deserve,” she shared.
The company emphasizes values of compassion, integrity, and excellence. They highlighted innovative technology already in place at their new office, including a wellness hub with virtual care and environmental sensors designed to improve safety and comfort for clients.
The celebration also introduced the company’s unofficial but beloved team member, Pickles the Ambassador of Joy (pictured below). Once a tiny rescue with an uncertain future, Pickles has become the heart of the organization. She now visits seniors, families, and children, offering cheer and reminding everyone of the healing power of companionship.

Guests at the event enjoyed champagne, small bites, and sweet treats while touring the new office at 2895 Loma Vista Road. The ribbon cutting underscored a commitment not just to business growth but to elevating the standard of care for Ventura’s aging population and families in need of support.
Homewatch CareGivers of Ventura is now open and accepting clients, ready to serve with a mission to treat every person as if they were their own family.
