Story of Homewatch CareGivers of Lakewood Ranch

Henry Haitz, owner of Homewatch CareGivers of Lakewood RanchHenry Haitz, owner of Homewatch CareGivers of Lakewood Ranch, has long been active in this community and looks forward to providing people here with in home care services.

Originally from Pennsylvania, Henry spent 30 years in the newspaper/media business, and served as president and publisher of four media companies around the country, including the Bradenton Herald from 2004-2006.

In addition to his work in publishing, Henry also made time to be involved in organizations wherever he lived to make a difference in the lives of others. While in State College, Pa., Henry served on the Mount Nittany Medical Center board of trustees and its executive committee, which gave him a deeper understanding of the healthcare business. And, while in Columbia, S.C., he helped lead efforts with the Central Carolina Community Foundation to educate the community on the then new Affordable Care Act.

Henry and his family lived in Lakewood Ranch from 2004-2006 where he was very active in the community. He served on several board of directors including the Manatee Chamber of Commerce, Manatee Education Foundation, Manatee Community Foundation (where the Lakewood Ranch Community Foundation is setup) and the United Way of Manatee County where he served as county campaign chair.

Henry’s wife Tina has a health sciences degree and has worked at several hospitals including the Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale New Haven. While she is not active in the business on a full-time basis her advice and expertise will help us increase the quality of life of our clients.

Henry’s mother suffered a stroke in 2014 and, like many families going through similar circumstances, he and Tina were suddenly thrust into an unfamiliar arena. At the time they lived four hours from Henry’s parents and had to learn how to be helpful, and how to navigate this significant change from afar. His father is a cancer survivor and his mother-in-law passed away from cancer after receiving outstanding care from hospice. These life changing family events have driven Henry’s desire to use his skills to help others in similar difficult situations.

Tina and Henry returned to Lakewood Ranch in 2016 to become owners of Homewatch CareGivers in Manatee County because they wanted to build a business that improves their clients’ quality of life, and to give back to the community. In 2017 they created the Henry B. Haitz III Family Fund as part of the Lakewood Ranch Community Fund Founders’ 50.
