It sounds like a cliché, but we really mean it when we say that caregivers are the heart of our business. Owners Hillary Wootton and Michael Bagwell are very hands on in providing care in their Santa Rosa community, but they cannot see to every individual who needs help with daily activities like going to doctors’ appointments, taking a walk, running to the grocery store or just visiting. Instead, they are committed to hiring the quality caregivers for whom they provide ongoing training, support, and background checks. Steps to Becoming a Caregiver
You might see one of our ads online as we are regularly adding new caregivers to our team. Once you contact us about the job, we will review your application and be in touch for an interview if you meet our basic qualifications. Next steps include:
- passing a state-required TB test
- registering with the state of California, completing the state-required federal and state background checks and providing proof of auto insurance
- providing references for us to call in order to verify past employment
- displaying empathy, a passion for working with people, and a desire to maintain a person’s respect and dignity while providing personal care
Safety & Learning Matters
At Homewatch CareGivers of Santa Rosa and Sonoma County, we want to ensure not just the safety of our clients, but that of our caregivers as well; we honor and protect your well-being too. We provide continued education through our Homewatch CareGivers University, which has shown to be effective in supporting caregivers. We want everyone to reach their highest potential in terms of skills, confidence and experience. We strongly encourage the caregivers who wish to further their education by going to school or taking courses. These are requirements of employment with us:
- completing courses required by the state of California: Personal Safety, Handwashing, Bloodborne Pathogens, basic First Aid
- completing our in-office orientation
- agreeing to our on-going annual trainings that include Patient’s Rights; Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA); Activities of Daily Living (ADLs); How to Report, Prevent and Detect Abuse of the Elderly, Assisting with Personal Hygiene; and How to Safely Transport a Client
