Role: The Director of Nursing plays a key role in achieving Homewatch CareGivers’ goal of being the best provider of in-home care services in the communities we serve by consistently exceeding client expectations. The Director of Nursing allocates and monitors the resources of the office, along with human resource management and marketing to:

  1. create a growing, loyal client base which derives value from the in-home care services we provide;
  2. develop and supervise a core of dependable, competent and skillfully assigned caregivers; and
  3. supervise the services that Homewatch CareGivers delivers to its clients to ensure the highest standards of quality, ethics, and client satisfaction.

Homewatch CareGivers’ measure of quality is the degree of comfort, convenience and confidence which we produce for our clients and their loved ones.

Scope of Position: Reports to the President

Major Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain a loyal clientele base in specified territory area
  • Conduct new client evaluations and develop appropriate plan of care
  • Qualify, orient and supervise a core of dependable and competent caregivers
  • Plan, oversee, and conduct when appropriate an on-going program of in-service training
  • Conduct quarterly care plan reviews and participate in quarterly client record reviews
  • Supervise the work of the Certified Nurse Aides and conduct supervisory visits as scheduled
  • Make the Agency Director aware of any problems regarding client satisfaction and the work of Homewatch caregivers and propose action to address and correct any complaints
  • Be knowledgeable of and manage effectively the territory case load
  • Work closely with the staffing/marketing operations of the central office
  • Conduct annual caregiver evaluations as needed
  • Participate in the annual agency program evaluation
  • Ensure thorough, accurate, clear, and timely communication with the central office
  • Coordinate work with PRN nurses as needed to assure that all clients are served in a timely and satisfactory manner
  • Be available to consult with the Homewatch CareGivers’ office and/or clients regarding medical issues and questions

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

  • A history of compassion motivation
  • A love for and understanding of the problems and challenges of the elderly and infirmed
  • Proven Human Resource management skills
  • An effective listener
  • Comfortable with the fast and unpredictable pace of business
  • An enjoyment of out-of-office business activity
  • Able and willing to work with little direct supervision
  • History of dependability, job dedication and loyalty
  • Appropriate professional credentials
  • Proven relationship building skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Able to effectively communicate with prospective employees and the management team.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills - oral, conversational, telephone & written

Education:

The Director of Nursing shall be a Registered Nurse with a valid, current Nurse’s License to practice nursing in the State of North Carolina.
