The Caregiver Way

Caregivers really matter—not just to our clients, but to us too. If you’re interested in becoming a caregiver for Homewatch CareGivers in Boise and Meridian, Idaho or just want to know more about this process, take a look below.

Steps to Becoming a Caregiver

The truth is, not everyone is cut out to be a caregiver. We want this to be a good fit for you, if this is a job you are interested in. Here is what we are looking for in every caregiver:

  • We require a minimum of one year of experience providing personal or companion care or CNA (Certified Nursing Aide) proof
  • Reliability
  • Previous experience with equipment such as wheelchairs, slide boards, overhead lifts, and Hoyer lifts.

As part of the hiring process, we do the following:

  • Full state and federal background check are completed by a private investigator
  • Drug tests and TB tests
  • Reference checks
  • Obtain proof of a valid driver’s license and current automobile insurance.

Safety & Learning Matters

It’s important that our caregivers feel fully prepared and safe when they go to care for a client, just as it’s necessary that each client feels comfortable with their caregiver. Therefore, we require that all of our caregivers attend an 8+ hour class on our approach to care, etiquette, skills and equipment use.

What We Offer

Homewatch CareGivers offers health insurance, paid vacation days and typically can give a caregiver up to 40 hours of work per week reliably.
